Boston woman Edna Foley won a divorce from husband Herbert Foley after 18 years. She recalled marrying the Cambridge broker in New York on New Year's Eve 1927, an hour later he asked for $25 and vanished. She said she waited to divorce due to shame.

James C. Smith was honorably discharged from the United States Army on October 3 at Fort George G. Meade separation center. He joined in November 1942, went overseas in July 1943, served as automotive mechanic in the European Theater, and earned the ETO ribbon with six battle stars, the Presidential Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Good Conduct Medal. His wife and two children live at 425 Ridge Avenue.
Pvt John J Davis of 1020 Fairview Road is honorably discharged from the Army Air Forces at Kelly Field Texas after 19 months service as an airplane mechanic at Kelly Field. Prior to enlisting he worked as an airplane mechanic at Fair.
Tokyo reports that trials for the first batch of 2,000 Japanese on charges including brutal atrocities are expected within 60 days. Col Alva C Carpenter, chief legal officer on General MacArthur's staff, says about 500 suspects are held and more are being captured daily. He notes trials could start with class three cases within three weeks and the number may double.

The plane came from Hamilton Field and hit a hill before plunging into a gulch scattering debris over 200 yards.

Bostetter presiding Louise Stone aged 40 of Jefferson street got six months in jail The pair allegedly took three dressed chickens from a North Potomac street store and Baker also stole a leather jacket and a necktie from another store
Sgt. John Trumpower of Edgemont arrives home with an honorable discharge after 28 months overseas with the Engineers. His brother S/Sgt. Victor Trumpower spent 20 months overseas and has already returned. John was an instructor in camouflage technique.

Mayor Richard H Sweeney announced after consulting with M E Miller that Christmas lighting will be limited to the Public Square due to a failure to obtain electrical supplies. Miller reports suppliers are unable to meet the high demand, delaying full city lighting to the next year.

Miss Phylis M. Sheppard, 15, of Berkeley Springs, was admitted to Washington County hospital about 11:40 p.m. last night with a ten inch scalp wound. Hospital officials did not learn the cause of the wound. She remains at the hospital today for treatment.
