The Hardenberg reported a sighting of an airplane 700 miles east and north of Hr Grace with 1,200 more miles to Ireland. After 25 hours of silence, Mrs MacDonald warned that was a long time ago. Conditions at sea were favorable, with visibility good for 30 hours reported by Paris. If the plane had to land, the airman could barely stay afloat 20 minutes with near-empty tanks and no wireless.
