Social and personal notices list residents visiting relatives and returning home from trips. Names include Charles M. Barley of Philadelphia visiting Mrs. Paul Sones in Hamilton Boulevard and various residents from Wilson College and nearby towns sharing family visits and medical updates.
Mrs Henry Righter hosted a bridge party at 1104 Oak Hill avenue for Mrs Eva Vedder of Cleveland visiting her son and wife Mr and Mrs W C Vedder. Honors went to Mrs Marshall Reed and Mrs George Hardman. Other guests included Mrs W O Vedder Mrs Lewis Reisner Mrs Charles Farley of Philadelphia Mrs Paul Jones and Mrs M A Mills.
A wedding at the Rhodes home in Clearspring united Ethel Josephine Rhodes and George Noel Ott son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ott of McConnellsburg Pa. Rev J Wade Huffman officiated with a reception and flowers as autumn decor. The couple plans a honeymoon in Pennsylvania and Maryland and will reside at 1417 Verloeks Street Harrisburg Pa.
Twenty members of the Conoco cheagus chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met at the regent Mrs. Frank N. Hoffmeier home for the first meeting since organization. Four new members were announced: Miss Mary Gish Mrs J Frank Miller Mrs John B Howard and Miss Catherine Louise Beachley. The next meeting will be at Mrs J Frank Miller 121 Broadway November 21. The Current Events Club will meet at Mrs Elmer K Eyerlys 216 South Prospect Street at 3 15 pm on Thursday. Services continue at North Street Chapel with a healing service Friday night and a Boy Preacher presiding Wednesday night. Cumberland fall convocation of Episcopalians from Frederick Allegany Garrett and Washington Counties will be held at All Saints Church November 17 and 18.

Dolores Regena Fowler’s second birthday observed at a family dinner with relatives present.

A Friday evening surprise party was held in Williamsport for Mrs. R. P. Turner celebrating her sixty fourth birthday hosted by her children. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Turner Mr. and Mrs. James Turner Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fergetto Dolores Leggett Paul Jr. and many Turner relatives with music and refreshments.
Mrs. Herbert Burgan of Huyett announces the marriage of her daughter Mary Estelle to Chalmer M. McElhaney on Oct 8 at 8 o clock. The couple traveled to Frederick and were wed by Rev Amos John Traver of the Lutheran Church of that city. McElhaney, son of Mrs. James McElhaney near Chambersburg, formerly worked at the Westinghouse Pittsburgh plant. Mrs. McElhaney is a 1930 graduate of Hagerstown High School. The wedding came as a surprise to many friends.
A bridge luncheon to be hosted by the Women's Club card section starts Friday October 21 at 1 PM. Mrs Leo H Miller leads arrangements with reservations via her or Miss Bachtell at the club. Proceeds fund the new heating plant.
Treble Clef Club will present eighteenth century American music on October 24 at Mrs. Henry Holzapfel’s home as part of the bicentennial celebration. Mrs. Palmer Tennant will discuss musical conditions in early America and the role of music in the nation’s beginnings. Colonial costumes will be worn. tea will follow the concert. Associate memberships are invited through Mrs. Richard Willson.

Mrs Franklin P Canby hosted a Sunday dinner at Hotel Hamilton with guests Mrs Joseph F Stillman Ruth Stillman Miss Louisa Huyett Col Washington Bowie Mrs Arthur Lee W Merrick Huyett Mr W H Howard and Mr Robert A Stott.
