Twenty one members of the Frederick chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with regent Mrs Jesse Anders were entertained by the local Conoco- Gheague chapter at a meeting yesterday afternoon at Mrs CO L Mowrer’s Oak Hill Avenue home. Rev Dr William S Hess gave an address on Three Cornered Civilization.
Alsatia Club members and friends will tour Sunday afternoon departing at 2 p m from West Washington street. The route is secret and lunch and dinner arrangements along the way are arranged with two eating places offering meals like chicken dinners and steaks. Members are asked to report numbers and car availability to Kieffer Bowers or Red Metz and noncar owners will be assisted. The tour covers about 119 miles through mountainous scenery and returns to Hagerstown about 7 or 7 30 p m.
Mrs Kenneth Sinn former Miss Henrietta Betts received a surprise shower from Hagerstown Shoe and Logging Company office staff where she formerly worked. The evening featured games and a mock wedding and refreshments. Two prominent women painters were the focus of afternoon talks at the Arts and Letters Club. Mrs. Allen Myers discussed George O Keeffe and read a letter from his wife, adding personal insight, while Mrs. Lesley Gardner described Ceselia Beaux noted for portrait painting.

The Current Events Club schedules a meeting Thursday afternoon October 19 at 3 15 at the Women's Club. Miss Dora Burhans and Mrs Edward M Updegraft present Developments in National Affaire and Developments in International Affairs topics. Mrs Mary Clarke Kieffer will present a book review and Mrs E H Zeigler will review current events.
At a recent meeting of Girl Scout Troop 6 held at St Johns Episcopal Paris House, Miss Troupé led a second folk dancing instruction helping girls earn father’s badges. Peggy Byer and Mary Bond, first and second lieutenants, assisted others pursuing various badges. Dorothy Voris won the observation prize for accuracy in a picture. A new song was learned for the Minstrel’s parade.
A Hallowe en party at the home of Mr and Mrs Herbert Tomer Williamsport honored Miss Pauline Domer and Rose Heefner. Attendees included Mona Crist Virginia Hannah Ruth Scott Charlotte Mellott Ardell Mellott Betty Garrish Mary Domer and others.
Migs Ellen B. Watson and John Squires of this city were married at the Squires residence 947 The Terrace on Saturday evening at 6 30 o clock. Rev J M Gillum pastor of St Paul s M E church officiated in the presence of a few friends.
The wedding of Miss Fe Catherine Gilbert and Raymond Kaetzel was held at Church of God Uniontown Maryland. The ceremony featured music by a quartet and a solo bride, with Ralph Kaetzel as best man. The bride later wore a brown suit for the reception and is a Jefferson Medical College graduate. The groom, educated at Hagerstown High School and Bridgewater College, plans to pursue further steps after the ceremony.
Mr and Mrs Bart Yeakle visited their new dairy farm near Herndon Virginia last week.
