Havana dispatch says two more Americans Allan D Thompson and Paul Hughes were captured after landing with a small force in Oriente province. The group included Anthony Zarba of Somerville Mass who was executed with 12 Cubans for plotting against Fidel Castro. Authorities announced trial for Thompson and Hughes in Santiago while Zarba and the others were killed at a rifle range.
North Charleston, S C AP John Prohaska 31 a Charleston Rubber Co vice president and his wife Bonnie 30 were named the states No 2 ideal family in 1960. Friday he found four children with severe skull fractures after an attack at the couple's home. Bonnie was found wandering half a mile away incoherent and reportedly berserk. The children were hospitalized in critical condition. Bonnie was later placed in a psychiatric ward for observation.

Three youths from Maryland faced juvenile court actions for larceny and truancy. A 15 year old was sent to the Maryland Training School for Boys for truancy and curfew violations. Another 15 year old from Hagerstown was adjudicated delinquent for curfew breaches after midnight and school absence. In Tacoma Washington on his 20th birthday Roger Vukovich was charged with first degree murder in the death of his mother Selma Vukovich 57. Police say he admitted striking her with a hatchet as she slept and pushing her down stairs after his friend testified he offered to pay him to kill her. He claimed he hoped to test communication with the dead and carried a book titled Mediums and Survival when found.
The Liquor Central Board denied the transfer of a beer wine and liquor license from Hagerstown to a site eight miles south on the Sharpsburg Pike near the Antietam Battlefield. The board left open a future license if a high class restaurant or inn is established first and there is demonstrated need. Viola A. Stockslager, trading as The Nook, sought the transfer to a proposed establishment named The Paradise.
Detective J. Robert Earley is placed in charge of the Police Department detective bureau until October 24 while Lt. Grayson Wigfield is on vacation. The move places Earley at the helm of investigations during Wigfield's absence.
Charles Ronald Lushbaugh, 25, of 816 Washington Ave, was badly injured when his car veered off the Sunshine Trail 42 miles east of Waynesboro. Police say he drifted asleep at the wheel, struck a guardrail, and spun in the roadway. he was taken to Washington County Hospital with a broken jaw and severe facial lacerations. He was alone in the car.
Partly cloudy conditions loom tonight with lows in the 50s across Hagerstown and western Maryland. Sunday stays warm with possible showers in Garrett County and vicinity, while the Eastern Shore and Southern Maryland fog up and see mid 50s to lower 60s lows. Monday brings scattered showers and cooler temperatures.

Two 14-year-old North Ha verstown High School freshmen were taken into custody for stealing two bicycles from St Andrew’s Parochial School in Waynesboro. They were found later drinking near beer at Waynesboro High School and admitted the theft. Police handed them to a Juvenile Court officer for custody by parents.
Deputies investigated the first vandalism report of the season after a school waiting booth was removed from its foundation and placed in Marsh Pike road center near Paramount. Sheriff Charles Price said the incident, occurred about 1 30 this morning, with no clear suspect.
