Two Plane Crashes Kill Five in Fog Near Alexandria
In pea soup fog near Alexandria Virginia two crashes occurred within forty minutes of midnight killing all five aboard an Army bomber and sparing 26 aboard an Eastern Air Lines DC-4. The DC-4, en route from Miami to New York, struck a lumber pile during a blind approach, careened into a well house and a power line, then burned. Debris scattered over half a mile. 21 survivors crawled from the wreckage as stewardess Betty Cahern 26 of Allentown aided them.

Sixteen die as JU-52 crashes in Moroccan fog near Seffron
Rabat dispatch reports an air ocean plane carrying eleven passengers and five crew members struck a hillside in fog near Seffron, Morocco, killing all on board. Among the dead were Carlin C. Treat, 26, newly appointed U. S. vice consul at Casablanca, and the wife and daughter of Howard Elting, the American consul-designate at Casablanca. Elting himself was delayed in Paris on official duty.

Hunters Slay Sheep Steer Near Sharpsburg
Raymond E Swain a farmer near Sharpsburg reports to game wardens that a sheep was shot by squirrel hunters on Monday and a steer is missing with a partly decomposed carcass found this week. He says such acts deter farmers from allowing hunts and notes financial losses. Wardens report two large buck deer were slain and left to rot in the woods.

Dies While Plane Circling Airport Over Philadelphia
Clarence Klingel a 62 year old Baltimore wholesale druggist died aboard a Trans-Air plane circling over an airport. He was returning from Montreal with his wife a physician and a nurse. The cause of death was reported as a heart attack. The flight diverted to Southwest Airport due to fog and low ceiling conditions until Baltimore’s airport cleared.
