Robert Elliott Heart Victim in New York Death House Servant
Robert G. Elliott, long associated with the death house, died at 45 from heart trouble. Known as “Pop” to those close, he supervised executions for Sing Sing and other eastern prisons. Philadelphia drug store raid linked to murder plot
Philadelphia detectives raided a city drug store on Tuesday and seized ten years of prescription records. The druggist was detained for questioning as part of an eastern states insurance murder ring investigation. Baby Beef Club Exhibit Planned Before Great Hagerstown Fair
The Washington County 4H Baby Beef Club met to plan the annual show and sale at the Great Hagerstown Fair. September arrests and fines reported in Hagerstown
Capt. Carl H. McCleary told the Board of Street Commissioners that September averaged one drunk arrested every 12 hours, totaling 65 for the month. Other city violations included 44 disorderly conduct, 94 driving laws, and 228 parking laws, with $629 in fines and 431 arrests. There were 25 larceny cases and six autos stolen, all recovered.

Captain Johnson Dies In Baltimore
Charles Chouteau Johnson, among the last 43 Americans in the Escadrille Lafayette, died Tuesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He lived in Virginia and New York, spent time in Baltimore for treatment, and had flown with the French air forces and later the American forces during World War I. He downed six enemy planes, was shot down once and rescued.
