Girls Sought In Street Stabbing

Baltimore police searched for two junior high girls after they stabbed Edward Watson Jr. as he escorted a child from a bus stop. Watson, a teacher at Booker T. Washington Junior High, was cut on the hand and wounded in the shoulder when the attackers lunged at him near an intersection. He identified Sylvia Bishop, 15, as one of the youths and said the pair fled. authorities expected arrests by day’s end.

Milwaukees Centenarian Maximilian von Stephany puffs his weekly ration of 200 cigarets to celebrate his 100th birthday. He arrived in the United States from Berlin, Germany in 1880 and says he has no secret for longevity, enjoying good food, drink, and copious coffee.

Three Youths Who Plastered Kitten Caught in Indication

South Bend youths aged 10, 19 and 15 who plastered a cat were caught. The cat survived its plastered predicament in a partly built house, free from plaster, and an Associated Press wirephoto of the incident circulated nationwide. Gordon Weist, juvenile probation chief, said parents promised to cover the veterinarian bill.

In Papililon Nebraska Otto and Elmer Zee, two elderly bachelor brothers, replaced watermelon patches with bitter citron plants on their farm to deter year long raids. This fall the first raiding party discovered the citrus fruit is tough and bitter and promptly dropped the loot before returning to town.

Two Women Die in Dover Auto Crash

Dover, October 10. A car swerved off the Dover Fort Mahon Road, struck trees, and rolled. Driver Leroy Thompson, 52, of Dover, and E. S. McDaniels, 3, of Daytona Beach, died. Six others were injured including Samuel Peters, 1, John Hull, 30, Frank Robinson, 30, and John Bennett, 2, all from Maryland or North Carolina. Police said Thompson apparently fell asleep at the wheel.
