Large September enlistments boost local Army office records

About 45 enlistments in September set a local record, with 28 from the county. Applicants must be within 200 miles of New York City and most recruits were high school graduates. Sunshine social marks 200th Washington birth anniversary

Shady Bower October 4 saw the Ladies Bible Class of St Pauls Union Sunday School hold its third Sunshine social in the church school room on Western Pike. A bicentennial program honored George Washington with remarks, piano by Millard Kretzer Jr and a duet by Mrs. Babcock and Mrs. Gunningham. About ninety members attended and refreshments followed.
