Thousands of baseball fans left Griffith Stadium for the third World Series game to find chilling conditions. The Weather Bureau warned of a front and continued cool temperatures near forty degrees, with heavy winter coats in fashion as attendees braved the forecast.
Washington and Pittsburgh pursue pitching realignment after a weather postponed opening. Johnson and Kremer headlined plans as Ferguson faces Kramer in a rain interrupted third contest. President and governor added ceremonial throws as Griffith and Landis presided over the postponement decision.
Weather forecast for Washington indicates a week of increasing cloudiness in the North and Middle Atlantic states. Showers possible on Tuesday and again toward the end of the week with generally warmer temperatures, returning to near normal by week’s end.

In Charles County Maryland on October 1044 deputies searched Crosstown woods for Joseph Crows and his son Sidney after a bootlegger shootout. Ford and Beall were struck by gunfire during the raid at a Grosy home, while Sheriff Howard was also fired upon. The suspects fled, a posse formed, and a search continued through surrounding woods.
High winds at Mitchel Field New York force postponement of today’s National Air Races including the Pulitzer speed classic and related events. Soldiers frantically staked planes and moved them to lee of the hangars as several aircraft overturned or barely avoided crashes. Two large bombing planes from Bolling Field narrowly escaped disaster during landing amid the gale.
Two armed men attacked William Dingledein and Frederick W. Hapnel of Central Foundry Company near Dundalk Maryland, binding and gagging them before fleeing with a payroll of 9010 dollars on a lonely road 250 feet from the plant. The victims were tied to trees while the robbers vanished. A passerby found them. The incident suggested careful planning by the bandits as they confronted the carriers and seized the money.
Donovan R. Grove, visiting his parents in Withitmrport, has gone to Philadelphia to enter the law department at the University of Pennsylvania. He will pursue legal studies after leaving his hometown background.
Washington reports the death of Mrs Elizabeth Knox Lansdowne mother of Commander Zachary Lansdowne. The notice arrived from Greenville Ohio as the young man testified before a naval court inquiry into the Shenandoah wreck and his crew casualties. A cholera case is reported at A N Gardenour premises near Tuinganid by inspector J K Albertoy at College Park.
Washington October reports the first pension from the Shenandoah sinking disaster awarded to Mrs Alice B Lawrence widow of Lieut John Bullard Lawrence. Five additional claims from the disaster are filed with the Pension Bureau including widows of Lieut Commander Zachary Lansdowne Lieut Lewis Hancock Lieut Arthur B Houghton Lieut Edgar W Stoppard and the mother of Chief Rigger Everett P Allen. The pensions department directs special consideration for these cases.
A group of white residents stormed the home of George Gaile frey in Los Angeles causing smashed windows and destroyed furniture. The male mob dispersed after the incident, which the community attributed to resentment over a nearby all white district being altered. Godfrey and others were not at home during the attack.
Worthington P. Wachter, prominent local lawyer, was appointed Great ToaKanon of the Great Council of Red Men of the United States. He may run for grand senior sagamore at the September 1926 Detroit session. Charles E. Pass, Great Incohonee, plans to visit Hagerstown to urge Wachter. Large Red Men demonstration anticipated with many council members present. Wachter recently represented Great Incohonees in Portland and Maine at tribal council meetings.
City Market stalls faced freezing winds as vendors moved inside. Asters in water-filled vessels froze solid and onlookers saw a dealer break ice to release blooms. Vegetables washed earlier developed a thin ice coating on display.
A lone thief pried into the Thame Garage showroom on Frederick Street overnight, gaining entry through a skel or tool drawer and stealing about $20 in cash and some items. Real Work awoke during the break in and saw the robber flee down the street. police were called but could not locate the culprit.
New York dispatch reports the Anti-Saloon League of Amelia accusing European and Canadian liquor interests of propaganda against prohibition. L B Cordeau, president of the Quebec Liquor Commission, says it would be unprofitable for the Quebec Commission to wait for the United States to drop prohibition. He sees no shift in stance and expects continued enforcement.
Several inches of snow blanket the Cumberland area as a 25 degree reading is recorded in the mountains west of town. Flakes fall for hours with icy conditions. At Cumberland a man named Frank Kendall of Funkstown was brought to Washington County Hospital around 11 30 a.m. with a broken arm from an unspecified incident.
Baltimore dispatch reports the Western Maryland Railroad stalemate with engineers firemen and hostlers over wages and working conditions. Union leaders declined to confirm rumors of a strike while President Byers and officials consider next moves under arbitration orNewlands act.

Dr Charles Be Paltz of Wallington was elected conference superintendent for the district at the Pennsylvania conference of the United Brethren church. He succeeds Mahan A By Stabton of Hagerstown. Bishop Willan Modell will deliver the sermon at the installation.
