Youth Is Held After Double Slaying Near Paw Paw
Deryle Kidwell sixteen of Woodrow West Virginia was ordered held by Justice C C Dyche Berkeley Springs on a double manslaughter charge in the deaths of Sherman Sipes fifty one and his cousin Staton Devilbliss thirty one laborers. They were struck by a car on a road near Paw Paw Saturday night. Sipes died enroute to a hospital. Devilbliss died at the scene. Kidwell the son of Gilbert Kidwell furnished five hundred dollars bail pending January grand jury action.

George Wilbur Shipley twenty four, son of Carroll county Sheriff Welter Shipley, was arrested on a warrant charging him with stealing a new 1941 sedan from the Walter E L Davis Company show window. The car was found abandoned at Aberdeen. Shipley previously pled guilty in 1939 to burglary of an automobile and accessories and was sentenced to three years but paroled.
