Man Finds Civil War Era Pennies While Digging Worms

Washington Oct 3 Diversion of more soft coal to the Great Lakes docks was ordered to avert a fuel emergency this winter due to strike curtailment. The Solid Fuels Administration barred shipments of coal to most users while directing producers in four eastern districts to hold cars at sidings for emergency lake shipments. Abe Fortas said miners are 19,311,838 tons short of lake dock requirements, with strikes causing a daily loss of about 625,000 tons of coal nationwide.
