Deer hunter Kiracofe among first in county to harvest deer
James Kiracofe, a local mail carrier, was among the first Washington County sportsmen to shoot a deer on opening day in Pennsylvania. After hunting only 20 minutes Monday morning in Bedford, Kiracofe bagged an eight point deer and returned to the city last night with the prize.

George Dodson aged 22 escaped Roxbury State Penal Farm early yesterday and surrendered eight hours later to Patrolman William Flamill. Dodson, a three year robbery convict, was handed back to officials. Harry C. Jolett, 29, also escaped and remained at large. He was serving eight years for second degree murder.
