Miss Frances LeGompte, daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence J Henry of Cambridge, married Hugh Blair Cochran son of Mr and Mrs Azel Cochran of Hays Kansas. The wedding occurred at 6 o clock on Wednesday evening November 23 in Hays at the Episcopal church with Rev Mr Mize officiating. The couple will reside in Kansas.
An unusual birthday party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Clark in Funkstown on Wednesday night to honor five individuals. The event featured floral decorations, five birthday cakes, and music by the Myers string orchestra. Dozens of relatives and friends attended, including Hawbaker, Clark, Myers, Wolfkill, Robinson, and Hawbaker families, with a long list of guests and relations named.
Gladys Ruth Bridgham presents the mystery comedy Thirteen Plus in St Mark's Luther League social room on November 28 29. The Euterpe Club of Waynesboro will perform at the Treble Clef Club meeting on Monday afternoon in the Presbyterian Educational Building auditorium starting at 3 30. An informal tea will follow. Mrs J Alvey Long chairs the event. A Liszt piano duet opens the program followed by vocal and instrumental pieces including Cadman Gretcheninoff Dancla Kramer and Rachmaninoff selections performed by local soloists and ensembles.
Mendelssohn's Elijah to be performed at 3 pm by 87 voices from St Pauls United Brethren Church and Church of the Brethren, with Hagerstown concert orchestra, under Raymond K Hollinger. Harry Wolfe stars as Elijah with a strong solo cast and an extended orchestra roster.
On Sunday November 26 Bryan Barker presents a 3 PM carillon recital featuring a varied program by DeVries Londonderry Air Old Irish Tune Gypsy Love Song and more. At 4 PM HE. Arne Hovdesven offers an organ recital with Thanksgiving Hymn Improvisations and classical pieces in a chapel setting.
Miss Margaret H English of Morrisdale Pa wed Burton Stele of Phillipsburg Pa in a Tuesday November 21 ceremony at 6 o clock held at the home of Mr and Mrs Donald Luzier 118 Bay Street. Blue crepe gown worn by the bride and many out of town relatives attended the wedding spouses now on a wedding trip through the northern states.
The November gathering of the Cheerful Helpers class of First Baptist met last night at 1240 Salem Avenue, hosted by Mrs Fern J Bard. After business, refreshments were served to Misses Gladys Reed Elizabeth Adams Elsie Horst Tena Horst Mae Riggs Dolores Weagley Rose Baughan Martha Hoffman Helen Beck and to Mrs Della Miller Mrs Ben Yah Sherman Mrs C J Wright Mr and Mrs A H Sherman Mr and Mrs F J Bard and daughter Mary Louise.
The Alsatian club dance committee schedules a Thanksgiving dance on November 28 at the Armory. A band shell will project music for all, Ted Brownagle brings novelty players and singers, and the event runs from 9:30 to 1:30. Invitations are available from the committee or vice president Rex D. Gaver.

A play titled A Radio Listening Group was featured at the Howart Street School P T A monthly meeting in the school auditorium on Thursday evening. The program opened with songs, then the group performed the play written by Miss Alice Sowers. The cast included Clyde Martin, Miss Zenimyer, and several parents and teachers. The business session noted funds from soap sales funded a concrete walk from Spruce Street to the side entrance, and the attendance banner went to the fourth grade.
After the morning service on Sunday November 19 Rev Samuel R Brenner pastor of Christ Reform ed church Bethlehem Pa performed six infant baptisms using water from the Holy Land. Ralph Van Sycle of Phillipsburg NJ arranged the water and Merritt W Brown principal of Nitschman Jr High School is connected through his son Robert Irvin one of the infants. Mr and Mrs Brown Lolita Downin sponsors for the ceremony.
The Christian Endeavor Society of Bakersville Lutheran church will stage a pageant on Thanksgiving evening at 7:45 at the church with special music provided.
