Judge H Arthur Stump in Baltimore City Court directed a verdict for Western Maryland Railway Company in damages suit by Wm R Taylor arising from a collision between Western Maryland passenger trains and Taylor’s automobile at a grade crossing near Baltimore on December 23 1927. Taylor suffered serious injury to his right eye and his car was wrecked. case was taken from jury due to contributory negligence for stopping too close to the tracks.

Western Maryland leases ships to store grain in Baltimore
Maxwell G. Byers, president of the Western Maryland Railway, announced that twenty cargo vessels along the James River are leased by the government for grain storage in Baltimore to relieve storage congestion. The contract spans six to twelve months with payments scaling from 4500 dollars monthly for the first five ships to 250 dollars monthly for the last five, supporting a 6,000,000 bushel storage capacity and exporting bottoms.
