Maryland University budget requests rise to fund campus expansion
The State Tax Commission estimates Nargiana at 1.78 billion and revenue of 8.9 million. Governor Ritchie received Dr. A F Woolf's budget showing University of Maryland plans to nearly triple College Park costs and quadruple Baltimore hospital and medical school expenses. Total asks total about 2.85 million with another 0.94 million from other sources while construction and equipment push major state appropriations. The State Prison Board also seeks funds for a new House of Correction building and a state use system in prisons. The report notes maintenance costs rising sharply for College Park in 1923 and 1924.
