Five armed bandits robbed MMe McGinnis Distillery five miles from Westminster at noon yesterday, seizing five barrels of whiskey and detaining guards in the boiler room. They fled by motor truck toward the Pennsylvania line, with authorities alerting state constables on watch. Property sale at East Baltimore Street listed, noting Theodore E. In Martinsburg A. Kibler of Duets filed for bankruptcy in the United States Court. Estimated assets amount to about $24 000 against $25 000 liabilities, much from credit accounts. Kibler started in 1918, suffered a fire destroying stock, rebuilt, then was robbed of stock worth 1500, followed by deflation forcing bankruptcy.
The American consulate at Riga was burglarized with $7,500 in cash stolen from a safe. Valuable papers remained untouched, according to a State Department dispatch dated November 18.
Baltimore November 1 F Austie Baughman of Frederick probably will be retained as Commissioner of Motor Vehicles for another term. Sources close to the Governor say the Governor does not feel justified in displacing him with any usual rival for the position and wants a calm, capable man whose appointment would instantly commend itself to the people of the state.
Patrolman Brown and Deputy Bowers recovered A. J. Whitebutton of Chambersturg's car after it was stolen Sunday on North street in Hagerstown. Thieves fled when intercepted. one jumped from the vehicle and escaped on North street. Mrs. George Abhath Grey Gables announces the birth of a daughter, Doris Katherine, on November 6 at Washington County Hospital.
