School gets under way at Wayside and Broadway
Seventy nine children at Wayside and Broadway schools began a lunch program to combat malnutrition. Beginning Monday any pupil may eat lunch at school with free lunches for those unable to pay, others pay 10 cents. The basement cafeteria was donated and equipped by local firms and individuals with support from the Parent Teachers Association and a civic benefactor.

Body believed found in Ellensburg may identify long missing man
Seattle police examined dental work on a skull recovered from a swamp near Ellensburg Wash to determine if it matches James Eugene Bassett a missing man from Annapolis Md for four years. The skull showed a bullet hole and was found with an arm. Mayer a life prisoner tied to Bassett's car was nearby when Bassett disappeared. Bassett a wartime aviator and former Tome School instructor had been due to depart for the Philippines in 1928 and vanished four days before sailing.
