Digging For Drain Turns Up Turtles
Several dozen snapping turtles had their winter hibernation disturbed this week by a contractor employee digging a 48 inch storm water drain in The Terrace rear block. The drain extended to May Street, then to a stream along Northern Avenue, causing turtles beneath the frost line to surface as a power shovel exposed them.
