Soldier dies in car crash near Catoctin Creek bridge
One soldier was killed and two others injured when their car struck the parapet of the bridge over Catoctin creek between Middletown and South Mountain and overturned. Dewey Hudson, 24, stationed at Fort Belvoir, was killed. John C. Bickel, 22, and George Henry Bickel, 20, both Fort Belvoir soldiers, were injured. The car was westbound and the driver was identified as John Bickel. The two surviving brothers were transported to Frederick hospital.

Automobile Stolen From Edwards Store With Merchandise
The automobile of P. A. Gray was stolen from the rear of Edwards Store on West Washington street late Saturday night. Early Sunday, Sheriff Max Malott and Deputy Leister Isanogle recovered a large quantity of the merchandise on the Cotuty Club road but found no trace of the car. Gray, a Towson native, is connected with Edwards store.

Seven Hurt In Mishaps Across Washington County
Seven people sustained injuries in separate weekend automobile accidents across Washington County. A truck collision at Hu vett s crossroads injured Mrs. Bernice Hoskins and James Hoskins, with over 200 chickens killed as the truck struck a pole. Cumberland resident Clyde G. Hoskins escaped injury. Marshall Thompson of Sparta Tennessee, driving the truck, reportedly failed to stop at a boulevard sign. John S. Annan Jr suffered chest injuries after his car left Summit Avenue near Baltimore Street due to a discarded cigarette causing him to lose control and hit a tree. Samuel Unger and Melvin Phetteplace were hospitalized after their car overturned near Hancock. Antonio Amiotto and Santi DePol of Washington DC were admitted Saturday night for treatment. Brown Collision Damages Bridge Near Leitersburg
Brown operated by his son Robert W Brown was in a collision on a narrow Leitersburg bridge Saturday night. No injuries were reported. The other driver was summoned to appear in court this morning.
Youth Held On Larceny Charge In Army Enlistment Case
Alfred Fulks age 19 indicted by the November Grand jury for larceny of brain from the Western Maryland Railway Company. He was returned from Fort Howard where he had been stationed after enlistment. Indicted with Victor McSherry and Marshall Winters. Winters and McSherry were previously arrested. Fulks was brought here by Lieut BE Chapman County Investigator Clarence Baker and Deputy Edgar Brandt.
