Natile Erwin, 103, is identified as the oldest mugging victim in the NYPD record. She was knocked to the ground near her Brooklyn apartment by two youths who stole $2 in groceries. The suspects, aged 12 and 14, were captured after police intervened. Erwin was not injured.
A Kenyah hunter named Robert Agun slipped while spearing wild pigs in MARUD Sarawak and wounded himself with a poisoned spear. Found by another hunter, he told his parents he could not survive. He was taken to a hospital but died before arrival.
On the eastern Aegean island of Hhodes a Greek court jailed Spyros Tsaraukos a 0 year old professional sponge diver and father of nine for parental irresponsibility and causing bodily injuries by restraining his 12 year old daughter in the backyard smearing her face with sugar and honey and leaving her to be stung by wasps as punishment for mingling with boys.

In New Iberia Louisiana Rosemary Francis says she did what she had to do after her son Jerry Paul Francis 18 and accomplice Preston George Demouchet were sentenced to 99 years for a May bank robbery in which a teller Beverly Shauffe was shot. Police used a bank camera to identify the pair, and Mrs Francis says she faced hostile calls from townsfolk while defending her decision to cooperate.
AFL CIO President George Meany signals willingness to discuss voluntary wage price guidelines if Carter proposes them but rejects mandatory controls. He expects to push for job creation and market relief, noting Carter would immediately consider workers’ issues. He jokes about becoming an elder statesman while stressing labor cooperation for any voluntary measures.
President Ford's budget director James T. Lynn says the plan aims for a balanced budget by 1979 with a $10 billion cut in income taxes and a Social Security tax increase of about $7 billion to net a tax reduction. The proposals, tied to Ford's 1975 plan, will go to Congress January 17, 1977, before Carter takes office.
