Three Young Rapists Given Death Penalty
A 18 year old Milam Beach girl urged the death penalty for three youths charged with rape. An all male jury in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sentenced John F. Smalley, 19 Samuel Choice, 25 and Robert Gissendanner, 18 to death in the electric chair after four hours of deliberation. The sentence was automatic as no mercy recommendation was made. The victim testified the men forced her into a car on Jan 13, drove to an empty house and assaulted her while she screamed.
