The old Babingon gasoline pumper, once with the First Hose Company for 25 years, has been moved to storage at a Fairgrounds building. Though advertised for sale by the Mayor and Council, the council chose not to take the top bid of 76 dollars and said the engine could still serve as a water pump in case of a serious floor situation.
Rev Dr F Berry Plummer will head a committee of ministers to arrange union pre Lent services to be held in the city two weeks before Lent with nightly services and various speakers. The Mideterial Association met at the Y M C A to discuss the plan and heard Paul Smith praise and critique ministers. An LA sician was invited to gauge congregation desires.
A conference of First Judicial Circuit judges with State's Attorney John B. Robins and Sheriff Luther Dougherty met in Cambridge to discuss the George Armwood lynching case. The secret talks followed a prior session with Governor Ritchie and Attorney General Lane in Annapolis.
A choir of forty men from the Church of God Men's Bible class opened a revival, sponsored to celebrate the class's second anniversary. The class now numbers ninety two after rapid growth. Evangelist Rev. F. E. Johnson of Canada preaches nightly at 7 50, urging the community to attend.
The Huyetts Homemaker Club gathered in November at Mrs. Howard Sword's home with Miss Maude Strit as co host. A Christmas party was planned for Mrs. Norment Gagnon s home. County agent Martin demonstrated Wise Buying and Budgeting and showed lace curtain drapery and upholstery fabric. Clothing report cards for 1934 were distributed. Readings by Misses Phyllis and Lois Groh provided recreation. Refreshments were served to 23 members and guests from Hagerstown and Welsh Run Pa. Mae Elliott of Welsh Run was present.

Dale Hunter of Morgantown West Virginia picked up a hitchhiker near Cumberland Maryland while en route to New York to marry. After a delay from a minor car accident Hunter shared his hotel room with the guest, woke to find the guest gone and $55 missing.
Uniontown, Pa. The end of a three month strike by about 15,000 members in Western Pennsylvania’s Steel Company mines saw workers trudging through fog and rain to the Fayette county pits signaling a breakdown of the long labor dispute for union recognition.
Lloyd Bowders of Eden View Health Cottage farm brought two enormous turnips, totaling 17 pounds 7 ounces, to the Morning Herald office after weighing at Binkley’s in Middlebury. The farm lies a quarter mile south of the airport and the vegetables are on display at the Herald Mail. London reports a likely Cunard White Star shipping combine forming, described as the world’s greatest.
The Halfway School auditorium was filled for the November PTA meeting with Richard Medford of the Hagerstown Museum presenting an illustrated review titled Five Centuries of Progress. Mrs. Charles Spielman presided at a business session and a lawn project report was given. Mrs. R. A. Schelihase was elected delegate to the Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers to be held in Salisbury November 14 to 16.
Arthur Kreger an 18 year old Amherst Central High School football star died today from injuries suffered in a game last Saturday. His neck was broken when tackled by two players. This marks the third high school football fatality in Buffalo this season.
A Men's Bible Class at St. Paul's United Brethren Sunday School nominated officers for next period. The short term runs until the first week of October per conference rules, then yearly elections resume. Committee members: Arthur Iimmerman, B. A. Beard, Guy Hoffmaster, George Lambiotte, Scott Barber, and William C. J. Clopper. Election set for the first Monday evening in December. Changes in winter church attendance mean men may come with families as pastor preaches a gender-focused sermon and chorister Shuman leads song. Geese pass over Hagerstown.
