Washington reports the National Industrial Conference Board says the tax burden has risen to three and a half times what it was ten years ago. The rise is blamed on a growing class of jobholders and more property exempt from taxes, affecting Congress’s tax policy. About 4.909 billion dollars of property paid no taxes in 1922, nearly a fifth of national wealth, per the board.
