Mummers Parade Draws Colorful Entries And Prizes
The Mummers Parade featured elaborate floats with Radio Station WJEJ winning $100 for best elaborate float, Fairchild Aircraft and Hagerstown High School floats also winning top prizes. Wayne Band from Waynesboro Pa, Chambersburg and Waynesboro high schools followed, with drum corps prizes and a long parade route through the square under police supervision.

Air-Murder Victim in Flight Lesson Killings
Carl Bivens aged 38 of Brookfield Missouri, an airplane instructor, was slain during a flight lesson. Police charged Ernest Pletch, 27, of Cherry Box Missouri, with murder and pursued him after a forced landing near Bloomington Indiana where his plane touched down twice.
