With good weather Antietam Memorial Day activities at Sharpsburg National Cemetery are expected to draw one of the area’s largest crowds in years. Governor Harry W. Nice and Senator George L. Radcliffe are among almost certain speakers. Millard Tidings may join. Ellsworth Roulette to serve as officer of the day. The parade forms around 12:30 pm and proceeds to the cemetery for exercises at 1:30 pm featuring bands, American Legion Drum Corps, fraternal groups, schoolchildren, Memorial Association members, veterans, and local guards units.

Youth Fatally Injured by Truck Near Shepherdstown
Six year old Kenneth Woodward son of Mr and Mrs Clifton Woodward was fatally injured three miles south of Shepherdstown when a truck struck him after he alighted from a school bus at the end of term. He died at Martinsburg Hospital from a skull fracture. The truck driver left the scene without naming himself. three youths were riding in the vehicle and an early arrest is expected.
