Washington May 29 The War Department rejected the North River Bridge Company bid to span the Hudson at Attic street New York City citing navigational needs A 200 foot center clearance and 185 feet at pier lines were required The proposed plan backed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad would limit high water clearance to 115 feet and lower ends accordingly.

Paper mill to reopen with modern machinery upgrade
The Antietam site will reopen as a paper mill with new equipment including nine dryers and paper machines. A 175 horsepower boiler and upgraded steam lines will be installed. Easton Maryland May 29 a 50 year old Black man West Wilmer was detained last night as a witness in the murder of 70 year old farmer R Marion Leonard whose body was found Sunday behind his farmhouse north of Easton.
