Navy officer's suit on homosexuality dismissed by judge

U.S. District Court Judge Gerhard A. Gesell dismissed former Ens. Vernon Berg III's bid for reinstatement and back pay while urging the military to study causes of homosexuality. Berg, discharged June 3, 1978, was later upgraded to honorable, though his suit was rejected.

VA FHA interest rate up to 8.5 percent

The government raises the maximum VA and FHA insured single family mortgage rate from 8 to 8.5 percent, effective Tuesday. Multi-family loans stay at 9 percent. HUD says the change aligns with mortgage market levels and aids buyers. Kennon Rothchild of the Mortgage Bankers Association supports easier government backed financing. Human fly George Willig stars at World Trade Center dinner

George Willig the so called human fly reached the World Trade Center top again by elevator then attended a celebration dinner at the towers top restaurant with reporters autograph seekers and guests.
