Babe Ruth hits his tenth homer of the season in the west trip with Ben Gerig and Cy Williams among the rivals, as Shocker of the Yankees dominates until the eighth.
Martinsburg defeats Waynesboro 6 to 5 as Rawlings singles in the ninth, his fourth hit of the game. It gives Martinsburg its first win of the season while Waynesboro led by two until the late rally by the Blue Sox.
The Filipino bantam Mormiades will arrive in the United States late this month for bouts against the leading bantams. He is hailed as a rising sensation and may redefine the division with his ability and showmanship.
Frederick High School invades Frederick to face uptown high school baseball in a Frederek County League elimination contest. The 2 o'clock game on the Blue Ridge League diamond features Thurmont’s Peck Widmyer on the mound for the local squad.
Hubs misfired with men on base as Fisher struggled on the mound. Maroons capitalized with timely hits and aggressive baserunning, edging the Hubs 3 to 1. Bases loaded none out left unconverted in the eighth and ninth, sealing the loss.
