Hancock Seeks Flood Control
A petition signed by about 200 Hancock residents was delivered to Senator Milard E. Tydings in Washington. S. Rinehart Cobbill of Hancock asked Tydings to present the petition to the Senate flood control committee for the omnibus bill. The petition claims dredging a fit of the Western Maryland Railway and removing a culvert under the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal would cut flood danger by half.

Rail brakeman takes own life in Berkeley Springs
John W. Butts a 49 year old former railroad brakeman resided at Cherry Run. After sending his daughter on an errand she found him dead with a bullet wound in the heart from a 22 caliber rifle. Acting Coroner H. W. Eichelsberger said no inquest was needed. He had been an invalid for years and is survived by his widow and three children.
