Airlines require graduates as registered nurses, height under 5 feet 4 inches, weight under 120 pounds, and age below 36. Training includes passenger psychology and navigation basics. The role demands poise, public handling, and ability to converse with officials, stars, and executives, while many former stewardesses leave for marriage.
A pupil at the Arkansas State School for the Blind testified before the Board of Control about threats from classmates after he exposed alleged wild conduct at the campus. The board discharged a female employee tied to liquor amid affairs and hears testimony on a superintendent’s lax administration as it weighs his six-year tenure.
Paris May 20 Leot Blum, prospective Socialist premier, appealed to Edouard Herriot, former premier, to accept the foreign affairs post in the new cabinet. Herriot, who urged better commercial relations with the United States to heal a debt dispute, did not disclose his decision after a three hour conference with Blum.
The Senate Labor Committee recommended a Sen atorial investigation of labor spies. It said the report found a condition markedly at variance with our lawfully established national labor policy.
A hat check girl died and three other patrons perished in a stampede at the Club Shamrock cloakroom in San Francisco when a fire forced evacuees into the street. The Associated Press reports the deadly incident as patrons and entertainers rushed to the exits.
Mrs Josephine Maddren of Boonsboro was bitten on the hand by a poisonous snake yesterday evening and rushed to Washington County Hospital where her condition was reported as good last night. In their first year, Holland high school's debating twins Hugh and Bert Nunnallee won the Bell county Texas all around championship, then the article notes they have been abandoned.
Mrs Maude Sleitzer and her husband were indicted and released on bonds of 21900 after an attack at Judge Albert S J Owens home. State's Attorney J Bernard Wells called the assault a blow to the dignity of the bench and court while a Baltimore Bar Association panel investigated the incident.

The New York district attorney promised last night to unveil a large extortion ring that allegedly victimized Alfred E. Smith Jr. and Joseph J. Wynne, stepson of a former city Health Commissioner, and a Boston man. Wynne and model Helen Bray were questioned as Hastings indicated more cases linked to the earlier Smith filing would be exposed.
