U S 10 Probe Plane Crash Near Los Angeles
Nine charred bodies were recovered after a Northwest Airlines Lockheed transport crashed into Mt Btroh near the Los Angeles desert divide while en route from Union Air Terminal to St Paul. Federal investigators planned a crash probe, with time of impact set at 2 07 PST.

Five Die in Helena Valley Plant Fire Tragedy
The blaze fatally charred five people and left two young children, Richard age 3 and Judith age 2 12 months, children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Webb Salisbury of St. Paul. Mrs. Salisbury and the baby were found together, the boy and his father some distance away. Other victims were Lola Totty of Glendale, Mrs. Carl B. Squier of North Hollywood, and Evelyn Dingle of St. Paul. Walter Peterson, a farmer, discovered the wreckage on Wednesday.
