Hagerstown begins a campaign to make the city the cleanest in the state. City officials civic organizations business firms and individuals coordinate efforts for a thorough cleanup. Rabbinah will be collected in the northeast section Monday southeast Tuesday southwest Wednesday and northwest Thursday.
Garbage collection times announced at dawn and merchants asked to display clean-up items. Hagerstown Schools held a Clean-up Foster contest with eight dollar prize winners and eleven honorable mentions for original poster designs. Winners include Master Roy Saum and Miss Julia Browne. many participants listed with school and address details.
Mark Mellor, manager of the local office of the C and P Telephone Co., is listed on the Pioneer Committee roster. The announcement highlights Mellor's role within the company's local operations and its community committee involvement.
At the 18th annual convention in Washington three hundred Chesapeake and Potomac veterans attended the Telephone Pioneers of America gathering. The event at City Club drew delegates from Virginia West Virginia Maryland and the District with a minstrel show closing the night.
Adam Kerr of Eyasville C stepped from a freight car of the Western Maryland Railway at Lurgan near Chambersburg Friday evening. He was hospitalized with painful injuries and expected to recover. Kerr, a furloughed brake man, was attempting to steal a ride to Harrisburg when an arch bar broke. To save himself he jumped to the ground. fifteen cars derailed as a result.
Col rank P Lehm of the general staff of the Wer Department will give an illustrated talk on the U S air service at the Chamber of Commerce forbm dinner to be held Thursday.
James Rowe of this city was slightly injured yesterday afternoon when his car collided with a motorcycle on the Williamsport pike. The motorcycle rider fled the scene after the incident, claiming the rider swerved into his path. Heat
