Senate approves culture department appropriation bill
The Senate passed a 524,808,718 culture department appropriation after striking a House amendment barring political activity by department staff. Senators Danaher and Wherry led the Republican effort to keep the ban and extend it to Agricultural Adjustment Agency committees, arguing some field employees and committee members engaged in campaigning. The Senate bill totals 10,487,474 less than the House version.
