Sit-Down Protests Mark Cleveland Chamber Meeting
In Cleveland on May 17 a crowd of about 150 relief seekers, many women, gathered in the city council chamber to press for full food orders and news access. Organizers from the Workers Alliance spoke from council seats, while policemen watched outside. The demonstrators planned to send a delegation to a legislative committee from Columbus examining whether Ohio cities really need 17 million dollars for 1938 relief.

Bids Sought For Hancock and Shepherdstown Bridge Approaches
The State Roads Commission called for bids on approaches to the Hancock and Shepherdstown bridges over the Potomac in Washington County with bids due May 31. Additional bids were asked for Edmondson avenue extended drainage and grading from Rogers Avenue toward Pine Orchard. Lynch Boomed By Post Here For Maryland Commander
T Frank Lynch adjutant and former commander of Morris Frock post of the American Legion is boomed for the Maryland department commander. Local post endorses him and four committees of Matrié Frock post run a campaign until the August Baltimore convention. Lynch is known statewide for rehabilitation work and has served on national and state committees and as Hagerstown post officer. Washington County has yet to have a department commander, and an active drive is planned.

Cumberland Council Eyes Bicycle License Law

Cardiff Wales May 18 half the city changed hands when the Marquess of Bute sold part of its real estate for about 20 million pounds. The sale covered residential suburbs docks and shopping areas impacting a city of 200000 population and exporting coal.
