Telephone Pioneer convention to elect officers in Washington
Mark Mellor of Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone will attend the third annual Alexander Graham Bell Chapter No 16 convention in Washington this Saturday. Other Washington County Pioneer members listed include A N Keller H M Brooks Benjamin F Favorite Harry King John F Schellmas and Benjamin F Warner. The group requires twenty one years of service for eligibility. The national convention will be in Washington in October with the Bell Chapter hosting.

Moonshine Raids Score Stills Around Mt Briar
Prohibition agents Ford and Beall along with Detective Chapman raided Mt Briar area camps uncovering sixteen moonshine plants. One camp on a watercourse yielded twelve stills and a large haul of liquor including 12 barrels of teagh 2 of applejack one of peach brandy and ten gallons of moonshine whisky. Officers testified before the Grand Jury after two days of raids that seized stills and mash but no arrests were made as moonshiners disappeared before raids.
