President Roosevelt handed a 1.003 million dollar check to the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation for infantile paralysis relief. The gift, totaling 1 million 3 thousand 30 dollars 98 cents, came from proceeds of Roosevelt birthday parties held nationwide in January.
In the East Room the trustees announce a nationwide infantile paralysis study fund of 1 003 030 dollars. Most of the money, 650 000 dollars, funds research at Warm Springs Georgia, a project President Roosevelt helped found. The rest pays for construction and maintenance at the Georgia facility.
Washington May 10 The Roosevelt administration signaled openness to early talks with Britain on war debts after the president opened the door for negotiations. Officials expect a call from Sir Ronald Lindsay and note France also seeks clarity on debt policies. The Johnson act is not seen as altering token payment handling.
