A large class of candidates was initiated at the regular meeting of Blue Mountain Lodge No. 113 Fraternal Home Insurance Society held Tuesday night in the Odd Fellows Temple. The newly formed ladies degree team initiated the class, to be known as the Past Grand President S. L. Shrader Class. Grand President W Elmer Cranceton of Greencastle addressed attendees.
Members and visitors from Waynesboro and Mercersburg lodges attended as Mrs. Margaret 5. Getridge presided. Invitations were accepted for the Waynesboro 40th anniversary on May 13 and St. Thomas on May 22. Addresses from Supreme Trustee J J Borzager and L Shrader followed, door prize went to Miss Viola Wolfe, Booster Club announced a bingo party at the Odd Fellows Temple, refreshments served after.
Former State Senator Harvey Bomberger is certain to win the Boonsboro burgess race next Monday after rivals Herbert Bender and John Beachley withdrew. A major issue is a $46,000 water system bond. three commissioner candidates also withdrew, leaving eleven nominees. The water plant dispute centers on town ownership and arbitration by the Public Service Commission if the ordinance passes.
Two hundred fifty members of Hagerstown Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon staged a ceremonial at the Masonic Temple after parading through the city. A class of candidates was initiated led by Morris Delauter with the degree team. A boat donated by Joseph Baker featured the event. May Ball Tonight
Rev Paul B Holdcraft formerly pastor of Keedysville United Brethren Church and pastor of Third United Brethren Baltimore was awarded the earned degree of Doctor of Sacred Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary commencement. He was elected president of the Interdenominational Ministerial Union of Baltimore at its March meeting. The Broadway Wayside Parent Teachers Assn met with moving pictures by third grade pupils and readings by Cornelia Funkhouser and Dorothy Loy. Mrs Homer Miller reported on the recent social service conference. Mrs Fred Leiter presided.
