Harry J. King, a baggageman at Lakehurst New Jersey, witnessed the Hindenburg disaster from 300 feet away. He described a ground impact into a dust cloud, heavy smoke and fire, parts flying about, and two bodies falling from a cabin window. A man nearby had burning hair which King extinguished before he could return to the ship. The falling men spoke only that lightning struck the ship.
