Washington County spent 16552 to transport 5462 pupils, ranking fourteenth. Baltimore toped with 53637 for 2536 pupils while Hartford had the smallest bill at 3070 for eighty pupils. Total county transport spending reached 436583 for 14507 pupils, up from 1927 by 63000 for 2500 more pupils.
An aging Antietam resident Luther Fouke is mostly bedbound while Mrs. Joseph Rowe of Antietam Paper Mills is ill at her home on South Potomac Street with a foot infection from a carpet tack. The piece lists numerous visitors from Hagerstown Waynesboro Philadelphia and Smithsburg stopping by homes of Fouke Rowe and local families over a wide Sunday to Tuesday span.
United States Marshal Edgar C. Snyder will escort oil magnate Harry F. Sinclair to confinement for three months after being held in contempt of the senate. Sinclair is to be delivered to the District of Columbia jail or the Occoquan district work house in Virginia.

Prohibition Agent Beall and Deputy Cushwa arrested nine men in a Bowery gambling raid Saturday night while seeking a tenth, William Wilson, accused of whisky sales. Six defendants led by William Duvall and Jerry Adams were fined ten dollars each by Justice Bitner. three others, Franklin Lee, Thomas Pin, and a third, were acquitted. Wilson received six months in county jail. The remaining defendants jailed for default of fines.
In Birmingham Alabama on May 4 three former sheriffs, a former police chief, and four others received sentences in a dry law conspiracy case. Daniel Steck and family from Sparrows Point Maryland are visiting his mother Mrs Helen Steck in Smithsburg for the weekend.
The Dry Run community records numerous visits and greetings on Wednesday through Sunday. Mrs. Earl Faith mourns the death of a fine cow. F. O. Seibert hosts and sews a 3339 patch quilt. Families such as Sowers Grosh Faith and Bloyer are mentioned visiting friends and relatives in Clearspring Shippensburg and nearby homes.
Mrs Raymond Bloyer and Mrs C F Sowers hosted visitors while Mr John Faith and his sister Anna Bloyer called on Adrian. The group spent Friday morning with friends in Rosemount and paused for a brief visit with local residents.
A Mrs A W Toms from 712 W George St reports relief from stomach pain indigestion and constipation after using Miller's Herb Extract. She praises its soothing effect and says it renews energy and well being. The ad promotes People’s Drug Store at 17 West Washington Street as the local representative and notes rapid results.
