Stock Market Averages Little Changed In Early Trading

In New York the stock market showed a small gain with most key issues moving fractions of a point. Two Accidents Investigated In City On Monday

Police investigated two accidents in the city on Monday and made no charges. Cars driven by Raymond Smith, 16, of 247 E Howard J and Michael L Stoop, 16, Rt 1, collided on Frederick St after both turned. Damage was minor to moderate. A car driven by Richard F Evochart, 28, of 457 N Mulberry St struck the rear of a car driven by Betty D Hamberger, 34, of 308 Mulberry Ave on Prospect St after Mrs Hamberger stopped to avoid a third car backing from an alley. Moderate damage was estimated for both ears.

Plains Storms Leave Millions In Damages

A late-season blizzard and tornadoes swept the northern Plains into Minnesota and the Dakotas, causing millions in property damage and at least 20 deaths. Sixteen fatalities occurred in Minnesota, with four bodies found near Porcupine in South Dakota. Pen Guards Break Up Demonstration

In Baltimore Marylane Penitentiary guards in gas masks and riot helmets broke up a five hour demonstration by tough inmates in the south wing protesting a guard’s solitary confinement. Five prisoners were moved to punishment cells after the incident which began about 5 45 p.m. and ended near 10 45 p.m.
