Police claimed Sleighter admitted whipping six year old Jean Le Ville to death and saying the girl fainted during the beating. George Lucas of Mayflower Cab Company told police he was held up at Ue near Funkstown Hill late last night. He said two passengers fled after one robber pressed a revolver while the other took his pocketbook with $11. Lucas drove to Fairview, picked up riders, then was ordered toward Funkstown. He gave a brief description of two armed men and headed to Hagerstown.

Fish Freed From Canal In Flood Cleanup
A large crew under Deputy Game Warden Albert Crampton removed bass and other fish trapped in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal after recent floods. Work, supervised by the State Conservation Commission in Baltimore, recovered hundreds of bass and returned them to the Potomac and nearby streams.

The Christian Endeavor Society of St. John's Reformed Sunday School Clearspring held its annual spring social in a green and white decorated room.
