Eleven Die In Plane Crash Near Ephrata Base
Eleven Army airmen were killed when a four motor bomber crashed during a routine training mission four miles north of Ephrata Washington. There were no survivors. The crash occurred about 3 am and the cause was undetermined. A board of inquiry was formed. Maj Ellis Eno located the wreckage from the air and directed ground crews. Warrant Officer Harry Verner announced the death. Wreckage was scattered over a wide area.

Youths Admit 12 Robberies Involving Schools And Stores
Four youths arrested for breaking into the Loose-Wiles Biscuit Company on Park Lane admitted eleven other recent robberies. The offenders aged 10 to 14 faced Juvenile Court. three were committed to St. Marys Industrial School until age 21, the youngest received a suspended sentence. Crimes spanned Nerling Shop Ayers Coal office Fred Keedy restaurant and more including a church poor box.

O CONOR SIGNS LOCAL MEASURE AND HAGERSTOWN BILLS
Governor O Conor signed one local measure into law and the House of Delegates passed four local bills at Annapolis yesterday. The signed measure allows removal of Hagerstown police officers for cause only, while the prior power rested with the Board of Street Commissioners. The House bills extend the northern city limits, amend city election laws, and provide a clerk for each trial magistrate in Hagerstown with a salary of 1200 dollars annually paid by the County Commissioners. Mayor Richard Sweeney said after passage of the limit extension, the first major project would be a boulevard on Northern Avenue from Potomac Avenue to the Western Maryland Railway, part of which lies outside city limits.
