Theodore Wagaman, 60, of near Fayetteville Pennsylvania, died in a morning crash on the New Baltimore road near South Mountain. State Police said a right front tire blew out, sending the car into a concrete bridge. He worked previously at Mont Alto Sanatorium. Coroner S. D. Shull said no inquest was needed after preliminary inquiry.
Baltimore March 20 witnesses Harvey Guy and R B Broadhurst testified before the Public Service Commission about bets on horse races in five establishments served by Howard Sports Daily and similar outlets. They described locations in Frederick Brunswick Hampstead Bel Air Takoma Park and others where no bets were observed during their presence. The Daily argues the service provides race information and sports results nationwide. Western Union seeks to discontinue the leased circuit. The commission adjourned after hearing and ordered briefs within 10 days.
The Van Valkenberg properties including a large house on Summit Avenue and West Antietam Street with a diner were withdrawn at an approximate total bid of 35000 dollars in front of the Court House yesterday afternoon. Sixty two lots on Cannon and Cleveland avenues sold for 250 pounds to Hubert Knode. A Pen Mar cottage brought 550 dollars. J. C. Snyder acted as auctioneer.

National Park Service officials in Washington announced canal reconstruction near Montgomery county will allow canoe travel between Washington and Seneca by end of July. Workers clean the bed repair locks and gates while CCC enrollees assist. no opening date or rules finalized yet.
The canal rules for fall remain undecided with questions about craft prohibition and whether lights or outboard motors will be allowed. Officials have not set a final policy.
A 47 year old man found in possession of several dozen new spark plugs was apprehended last night by sheriffs officers in Williamsport and is being held at the county jail for investigation. A local automobile dealer tipped off police after the man tried to sell plugs. the salesman led officers to the suspect who was later arrested in Williamsport.
