Governor Pinchot's dry bill rejected in Pa House

March 18 in Harrisburg the Pennsylvania House defeated Governor Pinchot's plan to regulate and inspect breweries and distilleries by a 107 to 9 vote, ending a two month fight. Senate had passed the measure earlier. Critics said the bill harmed legitimate business and risked industry, while Pinchot urged passage again yesterday. The outcome signals limited gubernatorial influence before adjournment and reflects ongoing prohibition debates. Also noted, a court-related sentence for a 19 year old incorrigibility case and a call for a Spanish American War Veterans meeting at Grand Army Hall with important business to discuss.
