Recluse Centenarian Attributes Long Life To Salt Fish Diet
Hy International Oswego New York reports Capt. George Best, hermit of Wigwam Cove, just turned 86 and attributes his long life to a daily diet of salt fish and pancakes made from corn meal wheat flour and buckwheat with hot black tea. He has lived alone in a two room shack for 35 years, surrounded by Curl his dog and 14 cats. He says neighbors visit in summer but hunters leave in fall, and he and Curl share meals like rabbit stew to vary the diet.
