Martin Jr known as Mr Republican died at 83 in Fort Lauderdale Florida He was born in North Attleboro and served 21 terms in Congress starting in 1926 He led the GOP in the House and was speaker during the 80th and 83rd Congresses His ouster as party leader came in 1958 after 42 years in public life with a career that spanned Massachusetts to national politics.
