Miss Weller and Rex Hartle wed at First Christian Church

Miss Helen Elizabeth Weller daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence A Weller and Rexford H Hartie son of Mr and Mrs Rex ford B Hartie were married in a quiet 6:30 pm ceremony at the First Christian Church officiated by Rev William M Norment. The couple will reside with the groom's parents. Both families note 1943 graduation and service in the Army Air Corps. Hartle plans to resume studies at George Washington University in fall.

Auxiliary Plans District Meeting Holds 28 Members

The Clearspring American Legion Auxiliary met with 28 members present. Contributions supported the National Heart Campaign and Harriet Lane Hospital. A clothes bank for child welfare was approved, with donations to Dr. David Brewer’s home for distribution. Eight members will attend the Western Maryland District meeting on March 7 at Patterson Hotel. Mrs. R. M. Barnett named publicity chairman.

Church of God hosts fellowship meeting with guest ministers

A fellowship meeting will be held this evening at 7 20 at the Church of God Mission 338 South Potomac Street. Guest ministers will be present and special music will be presented.

Plan for Festival Winchester Wins National Spotlight

Winchester gears up for the Appie Blossom Festival from March 6 to April 30. Miss Evelyn Cooper Miss Ann Robinson and Miss Gretchen Armstrong help place festival apple signs as preparations begin. Festival leaders include C T Cooper Delmer Robinson and Frank Armstrong. Grand events feature two days of fireworks parades dances trips to orchards and the crowning of Queen Shenandoah I at Handley High School lawn.

Potomac Edison Variety Show Revives Local Stage

The P E Employer Association staged the "P. E. Scrambles of 4948" at the Potomac Edison Auditorium for a three night run. Written by Charles Lyon and directed by Lyon, with musical direction by David Dorman, the program featured skits songs and humorous acts from a cast led by Mildred LeFevre Marlin Thurmond Jeanne Adams and Virginia Lawton among others. The show closed with "Aren't You Glad You're You" and "Deadline" amid lively audience applause.

Marriage Licenses For Harbaugh Powell In Maryland

Junior Red Cross Students Leading Local Efforts

Washington County school children show 100 percent Junior Red Cross enrollment under Mrs. Angotti. The youth division raised 74.65 dollars in 1947 and aims to surpass it this year. Activities include First Aid Water Safety Disaster Preparedness Home Nursing and international aid projects.

Mrs Roulette Honored At Sunset Avenue Party

Mrs. Robert E. Roulette was entertained by Mesdames William Bradley Jr Roland McKinzie and Max Kendall at the latter's parents home on Sunset avenue Friday evening. An arrangement of mixed spring flowers and tall lighted tapers formed a colorful centerpiece for the complimentary affair. During the evening 300 was enjoyed and prizes were claimed by Mrs. Samuel Hankey and Mrs. Preston Roth. Invited guests included many named ladies.

County Club Meeting Held by Bridgeport Homemakers

Mrs Elmer Green hosted the Bridgeport Homemakers Club for its regular monthly gathering. J C Green gave a history of Listen to the Mocking Bird. Henry Lehman spoke on India. Maurice Hindus lecture on Russia. Miss Ardath Martin discussed 194 fashion and remodeling old clothes. Members donated clothing, planned aid for a county family and Red Cross, and will tour the Herald-Mail plant. Next meeting April 8 at 1 20 p m at Potomac Edison kitchen.

Reporters to Attend Sessions by Hagerstown High School Team

Five journalism students from Hagerstown High School along with Miss Corrine Cowgell and Miss Ruth Cabill will attend the 14th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association in New York City Wednesday through Saturday. Ann Stouffer Nancy Sayla and Carroll France will serve as student chairmen guiding discussions. A Saturday luncheon at the Hotel Commodore will reveal school paper ratings. Other trip members include Jo Ann Beachley and Betty Iseminger, with Nancy Saylor as acting editor for 1947 48 and Cowzgell as advisor. They will stay at the Hotel Astor and attend a theater performance and U.N. sessions at Lake Success between conferences.
