Armory Fire Hits Fifth Regiment Buildings in Baltimore
A four alarm blaze gutted five rooms in the northeast section of the Fifth Regiment Armory in Baltimore. The 1983 rebuilt structure spans two city blocks bounded by Hoffman and Preston streets and Park and Linden avenues. Firemen forced entry and controlled the fire in about 90 minutes with smoke affecting Maryland Selective Service offices on the third floor. No immediate damage estimate was given for the million dollar building.
