Hagerstown Man Acquitted and Convicted in Local Court
Trial Magistrate Daniel W Moylan acquitted a 24 year old Hagerstown man of breaking and entering and fined him 25 dollars and costs plus 12 days in jail for intoxication. Emorey Landaker, 24, of Potomac Street, was acquitted of breaking into and entering Nellie Kerfoot’s home at Woodland Way. Frances Aguilen Stoneberger, 18, of Smithsburg, received five days in Washington County Jail for vagrancy. Delia Aileen Phillips, 4, of Helsterboro Road, paid a 5 dollar fine for failure to grant right of way. Wayne Lyndon Smith, 20, of Columbia Road, must pay fines and costs for speeding.

Baltimore AP reports Greek captain Jiannis Hobitis aboard the Airion described a 29 day nightmare from Antwerp to Bermuda as 30-foot waves and near hurricane winds battered the ship taking on water. Mercersburg Father Of 3 Dead In Mishap
Mercersburg Pa father of three died Thursday afternoon after a forklift rolled back onto him at Lee Rockwell Lumber Yard on Charles Town Road. 25 year old Daniel Martin Sweeney of Mercersburg Rt 1 was pronounced dead from internal injuries by Franklin County Coroner Dr. John P. Manges. Witnesses say the brake was set and the forklift rolled while Sweeney stood behind it. Funeral arrangements are with Lininger Funeral Home in Mercersburg.
